Joseph S. Geller brings over four decades of public service and legal expertise to his role as District 3 School Board Member. As a four-term Florida State Representative (2014-2022), Mr. Geller demonstrated his unwavering commitment to our community and education system, earning re-election three times through his dedicated service. His extensive public service experience includes serving as Mayor of North Bay Village and Chair of the Miami-Dade County Democratic Party. Throughout his career, Mr. Geller has served as trusted legal counsel to numerous South Florida municipalities.
Through his role at Greenspoon Marder LLP, he currently serves as City Attorney for North Miami Beach and Town Attorney for Bay Harbor Islands. His previous municipal service includes roles as Village Attorney for El Portal, City Attorney for Opa-Locka, and Town Attorney for both Miami Lakes and Golden Beach, giving him unique insight into the diverse needs of South Florida's communities. A respected attorney specializing in civil litigation, administrative law, and government relations, Mr. Geller has made significant contributions to Florida's legal landscape. He is particularly noted for his work in election law, having played crucial roles in landmark cases including the 2000 Presidential recount and various local election matters. His expertise extends to both state and federal courts at trial and appellate levels.
Active in community service, Mr. Geller has served as the Southeast Regional President of the American Jewish Congress and provides pro bono counsel for Movimiento Democracia, demonstrating his commitment to civic engagement and social justice. Prior to joining Greenspoon Marder LLP, Mr. Geller practiced law with his brother, Senator Steven A. Geller, in their South Florida firm, Geller & Geller, P.A. This breadth of experience in public service, law, and community advocacy has given Mr. Geller a profound understanding of how educational policy intersects with every aspect of community life.
His decades of working across municipal boundaries and bringing diverse stakeholders together uniquely positions him to serve District 3's educational community.
